This position is responsible for co-implementation of the Federal Government Affairs strategic direction developed with the Executive Director, Government Affairs and Policy and Corporate goals and objectives. In particular, this position will focus on work with Republican Members of Congress, growing the company’s Political Action Committee, and leading employee engagement in the political process.

The Sr. Director contributes to a favorable environment for the Company’s research, development, commercialization, products and support activities, through active implementation of federal government affairs strategies that advance positive legislation and/or regulations beneficial to the Company, and counter proposals that are negative to the Company’s business interests. Sharing responsibility with the counterpart Senior Director of Federal Government Affairs, this individual will engage in direct lobbying efforts and will share oversight of the activities of our federal contract lobbyists. Additionally, the Sr. Director will be a collaborative member of the Government Affairs team, embracing the department values of collaboration, respect, assuming good intentions, and being open to new ideas and opinions. Essential Functions: 1. Under direction of the Executive Director, the Sr. Director is responsible for developing strategy and executing lobbying and other advocacy programs with Republican Members of the U.S. House and Senate that maximize the Company’s visibility and stature as a first tier resource on health related policy matters with the Federal government.

2. Lead efforts to grow the company’s PAC, including developing and executing recruiting activities, developing PAC-related materials and content, supporting peer recruitment, and supporting PAC Board activities.

3. Develop and lead employee engagement strategy, including development of a “grassroots” network and other activities to increase voluntary political advocacy participation amongst company colleagues.

4. In tandem with Sunovion federal colleague, responsible for identifying and communicating to other functions within the Company (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Managed Markets, Regulatory and Legal Affairs, R&D) relevant legislative, political and regulatory trends and events; analyzing the nature of these forces; assessing their immediate and long-term impact on the Company; and in consultation with the Executive Director, proposing responsive policies and positions in support of the Company’s goals.

5. Serve as a strategic resource for the Company’s business teams so that marketing and development plans for specific products reflect changing federal policies.

6. Contribute to policy research and development activities.

7. Work with federal colleague and outside counsel to ensure the accurate and timely filing of all necessary federal lobbying disclosure reports.

8. Maximize value in industry associations through active participation and engagement.

9. Assist in briefing and staffing Executive Director and other Company personnel for all engagement with the federal government officials, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders

Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelors

Experience Required: 7 - 10 Years

Knowledge & Skills (General and Technical): Strong leadership and management skills

Excellent political acumen, instinct and aptitude

Robust understanding of the federal legislative process

Expertise in legislative and regulatory health policy issues

Demonstrated success in working with federal government

Proven ability to think critically, develop and implement strategy

Excellent organizational and negotiation skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Excellent oral and written communicator

Vigorous analytical and decision making skills
